about
This song is the result of songwriting class I took from Phil Elverum.
I'm sure many of us have similar feelings about problematic artists. 'Katy Song' by the Red House Painters was definitely a top 10 song for me at one time in my life. Knowing what I now know about the writer I'm unable to listen to the song and the artist in the same way ever again.
This song is about mourning and moving on in life.
lyrics
The open mic is dead
as we wash up, with other poets lines
another song is here
Hung up on the failure, of my friends
we gave it all we had
"Glass on the pavement under my shoe"
Our heroes became villians, how are you?
Their songs won’t escape us, are we screwed?
I sold the astro van
it’s time to get a job
the corporate benefits are gonna pay the way
for me to make my bed and get some to rest
I’m almost 43
"Glass on the pavement under my shoe"
Our heroes became villians, how are you?
Their songs won’t escape us, are we screwed?
